We supply the Web Edition as standard,
however you can choose to upgrade to the Standard Edition
if you need to run development services such as MS
SQL Server.
Designed for dedicated web serving and hosting,
Windows 2003 Server Web Edition delivers the most
popular single-purpose solution for Internet developers,
web designers, application developers and others
to deploy specific web functionality, whilst the
Standard Edition adds on-board development potential
by allowing the use of the MS SQL database management
platform to power your services.

An
integrated part of Windows 2003 Server is IIS6,
Microsoft's web and FTP server. IIS6 is used
as the primary web server for your HTML web
pages, plus can deliver dynamic content such
as ASP, Perl, PHP, etc.
Using IIS is simple from the desktop or
the web, and a basic web site can be added
to the server within minutes. IIS can listen
on a single IP address and port, yet can
serve any number of domain names with unlimited
web sites and pages.

You
can manage your server using either HTTPS from
your web browser, or via Remote Desktop connecting
through the VPN set-up from your PC or network
into the dedicated hardware firewall supplied
(click here for more information on the hardware
firewall and VPN). With full Admin access, you
can control every part of the server, including
the installation of any licensed software you
need to run. For more information about Remote
Access, click here.

| There's plenty of hype surrounding .NET
and what it can do for your business and applications.
Rest assured, it comes as standard on all our Dedicated
Servers, however, here's a brief explanation of what
.NET is, direct from Microsoft:
What is Microsoft .NET?
Microsoft .NET is Microsoft's strategy for
connecting systems, information and devices through
Web Services so people can collaborate and communicate
more effectively. .NET is integrated into the Windows
2003 Server products, providing the capability to
build, deploy, manage and use connected, security-enhanced
solutions through the use of Web Services.
