IIS6 Web and FTP Server
IIS is Microsoft's dominant web and FTP server
integrated into Windows 2003 Server, both Web and Standard
editions (click here for more information on Windows
2003 Server).
IIS provides the ability to host any number of domains
and web sites limited only to the capacity of the server
and the bandwidth allocated. IIS allows you to quickly
deploy your HTML web site, and develop dynamic content
using ASP.NET and the .NET framework.
Adding new web sites is easy using the Web Site Creation
Wizard, plus visitor logs can be collected by SmarterStats
for graphical feedback.
Perl 5
Perl is loaded onto each server and integrated
into IIS6 to enable to use of Perl as a desktop or
Internet programming language. You'll find thousands
of applications freely available in this popular scripting
language to serve dynamic content to your customers.
mySQL
This ever-popular database server can be loaded
on request to work as the back-end to your existing
applications and web sites.
mySQL is extremely reliable and scalable and is used
in many high-end applications because of its flexibility.
Included in the install is a front-end management interface
to help view and alter the contents of your database.
MSDE - Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine
MSDE 2000 can be installed on request to work
with MS SQL databases on the server. Based on core
MS SQL technology, MSDE enables you to query stored
data for your web applications.
The MSDE.BIZ tool can also be added to query and update
stored data through a desktop application.
You should note, however, MSDE is limited to small-to-medium
sized databases only, after which the full MS SQL database
is required on the Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition
platform (click here for more information on the Standard
Edition upgrade).
